Caveats

• Coverage is partial: only two parties (VMRO-DPMNE and Levica) publish their registers of donations as machine-readable (text) PDFs. Everything else published in North Macedonia on political finance is a scanned image.
• Not ingested (scanned images only): the State Audit Office (dzr.mk) copies of all parties' annual financial reports and donation reports/registers 2018-2025 (about 55-70 parties per year, e.g. SDSM, DUI, Alliance for Albanians, Alternativa, BESA, ZNAM, LDP, DOM), and all election-campaign finance reports (reports on donations received on the campaign account at day 11 and at the end of the campaign, and the final 'Вкупен финансиски извештај') for the parliamentary and presidential elections 2024 and the local elections 2025, published by dzr.mk and by the State Election Commission (sec.mk, Google-Drive folders; earlier elections 2016-2021 also only as scans). A table reader for these scans exists (tabread.py: cell-level OCR, tested on the SDSM 2021 register of 966 numbered donors, the SDSM 2022 register and the DUI 2023 list) but OCR of several thousand pages with validation was not completed: 288 of the 578 dzr.mk files are cached, none is ingested yet. dzr.mk publishes campaign reports only for the 2024 and 2025 elections; the State Election Commission holds the 2016-2021 campaign reports as Google-Drive scans (not downloaded).
• VMRO-DPMNE registers for 2019-2021 are image-only PDFs: they are ingested with OCR as source ВМРО-ДПМНЕ - Регистар на донации 2019, 2020, 2021 (scanned tables on the party website, read with OCR) (rows verified against the printed totals, see the notes of that source and the next caveat). Levica registers before 2025 (none) are scans and are not ingested from the party site. SDSM and Alternativa publish their registers only as scans.
• VMRO-DPMNE 2021 register (OCR source): the scan on the party website has 6 pages with 256 donations adding up to MKD 21,189,600, but the total printed under the table is MKD 25,371,450. The list jumps from 22 November to 21 December 2021, so at least one page of the register (about MKD 4.2 million) is missing from the published file.
• Sources other than the OCR one come from the text layer of PDFs exported from Word/Excel by the parties themselves, so names and amounts are as typed by the party. In the OCR source names are as read from the scan (Macedonian tesseract model, checked against a second read of every cell; a few names that the table itself truncates at the cell border stay truncated).
• Registers cover the central party account. Donations made directly to election-campaign accounts (reported separately to the State Election Commission and the State Audit Office) are not included; donations first made to the party account and later transferred to a campaign account appear here once, as party donations.
• VMRO-DPMNE 2024 register is a single table of donor names (natural and legal persons together); each dated payment is one row. The two 2025 files titled 'Урнек' ('template') contain real forms that complete the numbering (serial numbers 2585, a legal person, and 3827-3829) and are included.
• Cross-check with the audited annual accounts filed with the State Audit Office (line 'donations in cash'): VMRO-DPMNE 2024 register total 96,105,370 MKD = accounts 96,105,370 MKD (exact); VMRO-DPMNE 2025 register total exceeds the accounts (121,068,044 MKD) by 8,240 MKD (0.007%); Levica 2025 register total 612,221 MKD = accounts 612,221 MKD (exact). 2022 and 2023 were not cross-checked. The State Audit Office copy of the VMRO-DPMNE 2024 register is a scan of the same table.
• Amounts are in Macedonian denars (MKD) as published. In-kind donations (goods/services) have in kind=1 and their declared value. A few forms record both cash and in-kind values; these become one row per component.
• donor kind comes from the register's 'natural person / legal person' box where printed (forms 2022, 2023, 2025); for the 2024 VMRO-DPMNE table and the Levica register it is inferred from legal-form words (ДОО, ДООЕЛ, АД...), otherwise 'individual'.
• Privacy: the forms print the company registration number (ЕМБС) of legal persons; it is not copied. No addresses, personal ID numbers (ЕМБГ) or dates of birth are published by these registers or copied here. donor_locality is empty (not published).
• Donor names are kept in Cyrillic exactly as published (not transliterated). The same person may appear under slightly different spellings across years.
• The same donor often gives several times a year; each dated payment is a separate row. A few donors have two separate forms/rows with the same date and amount (13 cases, each with its own serial number); they are kept as published.
• Year = year of the donation date; the register year is also given in the description.
